Tuna fish is an excellent food for healthy eating, it’s packed full of nutrients and vitamins and can be combined in a variety of recipes your kids will love. Tuna salad is an easy recipe to make any time of day and can be eaten with a number of different items. Add in your own extra ingredients such as eggs, or onions or keep it simple. The easiest recipe is simply tuna and mayonaise, here’s a slightly more flavorful version to try.
Tuna salad is great:
- by itself
- added to a veggie salad
- on bread as a sandwich
- as a topping on crackers
You will need:
- 1 can well drained Tuna fish (use the “in water” variety)
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 2 teaspoons sweet pickle relish
How to make it:
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until well mixed
- You can replace the mayo with Miracle Whip or “salad dressing”.
Note: If you use the canned tuna in oil, be aware that your tuna salad will have more of a “mushy” texture.
Let your preschooler help prepare this food by stirring the ingredients together.
